Applicants must hold a valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement to teach special education in grades 9-12. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is seeking applicants for 8 School resource officer positions with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Pending County Commission approval. The SRO’s will be full-time deputies and will interact with the Wayne County school administration, faculty, and students.

Responsible law enforcement work providing educational and law enforcement
Job responsibilities require specialized training in law enforcement curriculum intended for school children, experience in law enforcement, strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills and sufficient strength and agility to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job in a variety of weather conditions. Performance is evaluated by the Sheriff through review of the success of security and intervention activities performed for the school system, analysis of crime prevention and apprehension activities, ability to interact successfully with citizens, teachers, students, and other law enforcement/emergency personnel and expertise in related law enforcement and criminal apprehension disciplines.
